A dinner party. A body. Six people with excellent reasons to have killed the victim, but none of them knows who did... including the killer. The Improvised Murder Mystery is a full-length narrative form in the spirit of the movie Clue (RIP Tim Curry). Conceived and sketched out by Abby, welded together into a cohesive show by all of us together. The audience hands us a location. The cards hand you a character. Forty-five minutes later, the audience votes on who the murderer was, and whoever they pick has to confess on the spot and make it all add up. So everyone plays guilty all night. You scheme. You lie badly. You get caught burning a letter. You have no idea whether you will end the show in handcuffs or with an alibi, and you have to be ready for both. What you get as a player: A big character from the first second. You draw a trope (the greedy heir, the butler, the ex) and walk on already wanting something. A secret to protect. Every suspect has a motive, something to hide, and something they cannot account for. The madcap. Six minutes where the pace doubles and everyone is running, accusing, and slamming doors that do not exist. Don't throw my chairs, though, they've been through enough. A shot at the confession. The best job in the show goes to whoever the audience convicts. (Start hoping it is you.) Two shows in one, if you draw the Victim card. You die gloriously in the first ten minutes, then come back as the sleuth and run the rest of the night.
